The constant repetition of taking a book and keeping it back in its place due to the man’s lack of literacy indicates to me that the man may have a huge brain problem. There’s also this odd beam of light that just hits him mere seconds after he opens the book. It seems to be resembling literature, seeing as the man is quite intimidated when the light rays hit him, just like how he would react to literature.
This artwork seems to be a sort of commentary on people who just won’t give up. Yes, we praise them for not stopping in achieving their goals, but they never think about whether or not the goal that they’re trying to achieve is for them. They might be just trying to achieve an unachievable goal, which is the equivalent to trying to catch the wind. They keep on trying to succeed, but they never make any progress. They keep on going through the same loop over and over, until Death imminently arrives.
